Banking
As one of Norway’s leading commercial and banking law firms, we assist a wide range of Norwegian and international banks and borrowers with all aspects of banking and finance, including asset finance and leasing, acquisition finance, syndicated lending and project finance.
The Norwegian finance market has been developing rapidly, with Norway's position as a leader in net oil exports generating a particular interest in shipping and oil rig financing. Recent highlights for the team include:
- Advising Glitnir Bank ASA on Sparebank1-Gruppen’s acquisition of the bank after the bankruptcy of the Icelandic parent bank.
- Representing Nordea Bank Norge in providing a $2.3 billion loan to Prosafe, for the financing of 20 FPSOs, drilling rigs and accommodation rigs.
- Acting for Danske Bank A/S in connection with the extension of a NOK2.5 billion facility to Seadrill Ltd for the acquisition of Eastern Drilling.
- Acting for Ship Finance Ltd in two sizeable sale and leaseback transactions.
- Acting for DnB NOR Bank ASA in connection with a $1.5 billion secured facility for Seadrill Rig AS.
Chambers Global recognises BA-HR as “an extremely important player for the banking industry.”
